Most of the programs have the four controls pictured, but several have only the FX and Volume controls. The rotary speaker options are not going to make you want to sell your Leslie emulation plug-in, but in concert with the multi-filters some lovely results can be achieved. Some of the choruses are good enough to warrant using Godfazer without the filters altogether. A few are pretty basic and of little value on their own, but they can marry brilliantly with complementary multi-filter action.

The full list of programs is shown below. There are 22 programs, of which all but eight are some form of chorus. Basically, anything that might benefit from a little phaser action will likely be a perfect candidate for what Godfazer can do. I can’t see how it would have much applicability in more aggressive genres, but your esthetic may lead to you a different conclusion. However, I will say up front that I find this effect most useful for a gentler variety of music: ballads, quiet ambient textures, gentle progressive jazz … chill-out varieties of all sorts. Given the number of programs available for the Ensemble and multi-filter types, the number of possible combinations here is fairly staggering. The Ensemble and two multi-filters can be configured in six different topologies. We’ll look at all this in detail shortly. The effect is actually an assembly of a modulation effect called Ensemble (primarily offering various chorus options), two multi-filters (with extensive phaser options) and two multi-purpose modulators to apply to the filter frequencies (be they cutoff or center frequency).

A free demo download is available, but the D16 web site does not seem to list the restrictions on the demo version. The current list price is €69 EUR or $79 USD. It bucks the current trend in that it is still available in 32-bit as well as the expected 64-bit format.

Godfazer is a plug-in effect that is compatible with all current major DAW hosts on PC and Mac. Godfazer is in that latter category.įirst let’s get a few fundamentals out of the way. Secondly, they have been releasing completely new FX modules, also designated as members of the Silverline collection. This has been welcome if for no other reason than the small UIs of the original versions are difficult to use on modern high-res monitors. First, they have been releasing version 2s of a number of the original lineup. In the last several years they have been doing two things with Silverline. D16’s Sigmund delay is also worthy of any producer’s attention in spite of the market being quite crowded with notable delay offerings.ĭ16 upgraded the original Silverline collection to 64-bit and presented that as a free upgrade. Later on the LuSH-101 synth blew me away, and I still don’t understand why that virtual instrument isn’t more widely embraced. I got them in a bundle sale for ten bucks apiece and was delighted. The first FX bundle I ever bought was the D16 Silverline collection, at the time consisting of six effects that were 32-bit only.

I have been a fan of D16 software for quite some time. D16 aptly describes it as “a Swiss army knife of modulation effects”. But let’s just ignore that for now, because this is a gem, whatever the name means. But what is a Godfazer?ĭ16 Group’s latest plug-in is called Godfazer, a name which no one seems to have a valid translation for. Here’s yet another FX plug-in from the D16 Group – oddly named yet irresistibly charming as we’ve grown to expect.
